Make as if to do sth = to make a movement that makes it seem as if you are going to do sth
1. Arif made as if to speak (but then stopped). = আরিফ কথা বলতে বলতে আর বলেনি।
2. He made as if to rise from his seat. = সে তার সিট থেকে উঠতে উঠতে আর ওঠেনি।
3. I made as if to ask the teacher a question (but then stopped). = আমি স্যারকে প্রশ্ন করতে করতে আর করিনি।
